Subject: Proposal!

Dear listeros(not all of you!):Since my last post, I
received a number of private mails from(most of them)
passive readers of the list. They agree that we should
do something as I think.
So,my proposal shall be that in the future and when we
see any hate paragraph from this lllliiiitttllle group
of brainless ,to write back with a word: NO!
That will tell them the disagreement of the
members...and we are over a thousand!
Open (and in need) for other suggestions!
Regards.
Daniel

Uh, let's not, shall we? That's called mail-bombing, and is generally
considered an extremely hostile act. Plus it usually elicits equally
juevenile behavior from the intended target, including DoS attacks,
spoofed emails, trojans, and a host of other little goodies that most of
the list members are ill-equiped to deal with. Trust me, you *really*
don't want to start that sort of war - I've been on the receiving end
before and it ain't fun.

As the TANGO-L Usage guidelines *explicitly* state (and I'm violating
the guidelines by discussing this publicly on the list), the preferred
method is a polite *private* email to the offending party with the
appropriate quote from the guidelines pointing out the violation. If the
violations persist, an email to the administrators pointing out the
relevant posts is in order.

I for one would rather see a moderator to raise the signal-to-noise ratio.

Disclaimer: I too have been guilty of sarcasm and an occasional
heavy-handed "Zen slap" in the past - mea maxima culpa. So any replies
along the lines of "pot calling the kettle black" are not necessary.

Hello all,

I think this affair should not be blown up out of proportion. Someone
responded needlessly aggresive to a comment he probably understood as an
attack on his form of dance/peer group/whatever. He got negative comments
on that, and there were no more insults or harsh reactions. And I, being
German, found that "insult", while unnecessary, not *that* bad. But we
Germans are not as polite as Americans are, anyway (though we4re not as
bad as the... *oops*). So what I4m saying is let4s not overdo the
political correctness thing here, that can stifle debate, too. I think it
suffices if one or two stern reminders are posted on the list in response
to any *really* insulting utterances - and I did not say "criticisms".
(I often find myself thinking "should I put an "IMHO" in that sentence?" -
please no)

I think that the best thing to do is to ignore them, by writing those
letters they are showing off that they are not very brigth.
Wonder if at least they are good dancers.

I like the ability to read ALL of the posts. Let me judge for myself! After
all, I have found some posts very funny (as I believe they were meant) when
another person took them seriously and got angry. I sure had to learn how to
communicate on this group - it was an extremely valuable lesson. I got
yelled at a few times early on, and called on to defend my dubious
positions, and other painful things, but I didn't stop writing. A dose of
humility is a healthy thing. That said, I would like to see more posts from
the "lurkers", and I call on all of us to cut the new posters a little
slack. Oh, yeah - don't forget your multicultural perspectives. Read it
again, and see if there isn't another way it could have been meant.

Yes, I tend to try to discern a person's dance ability by how they write -
it's an interesting exercise, and fun when you finally meet the person. But
I don't think a little passion in an email makes a person a bad dancer-I'm
for passion anywhere!

disco/bordello/car wash/dry cleaner MIlonga...I have arrived!!!i must say
there was one lady that offered me a hot dog and that was the first time i
was unfaithful to my lovely ana...i danced tango naked but this time it was
horizontally...i immediately confessed to my saintly ana...and she just
looked at me...i explained to her that a 'MAN can never be unfaithful...she
told me that she would be unfaithful to me I screamed and cursed and I
explained to her what is good for a 'bull' may not be so good for a
'cow'...she gave me a little smile I did not understand that smile...I know
my little saintly ana ...it was a smile of forgiveness and wisdom...lately
my little ana has been practicing tango with a younger soccer player named
eduardo...she is so lovely and innocent my little ana...it's funny it seems
that everywhere I go now in Buenos Aires....i get a little smile of wisdom
from everyone...a little child called me eduardo and jumped and the air and
slapped the back of my head...children these days..they are so playful...his
mama scolded him and gave me little smile of wisdom...ust like everyone
else...i like that young lad eduardo...i feel so young around him...but
lately my little ana has felt a little tired and a little sore ...she told
me that she has been practicing for me with eduardo that she does not have
the energy to dance ...maybe eduardo can show me some steps...i know i can
get better wisdom than from this bourgeois salon Milonga discussion
list...you all must give me a reason to stay...

First, I want to reassure you again that I am not thiis guy Herve, as Rick
accused.

Second, he has been in my kill file since he first appeared on the list, but
now I am seeing responses to his posts sent to the whole list. Respectfully
I suggest that these responses do not add content to the list and only
amplify the the annoyances of the guy Herve, who is apparently only a sort
of email vandal who is trying to be annoying and destructive of the pleasure
of reading this list.

So friends, please do not respond to these types of posts on the list - just
put the sender in your kill file and ignore them.

----------------

To add some tango content to this post is something that I forgot to mention
before about todotango.com - and that is that some of the material on the
site is in English and not only Spanish. You have to click the button
callled "Inicio - English" in the upper left corner, which perhaps is
obvious to those more astute, but wasn't to me. Or you can just use the URL
https://www.todotango.com/english/main.html.

Daniel,

I'd think your post was a joke, except that you don't seem to be the joking
type.

I didn't see the orignal post (Herve is in my kill file), and I didn't see the
connection in Ed's post, even given the subject line. But as you so nicely
pointed out below, the original post seems to be a satire on .... Daniel
Lapadula, who threatened to leave the list, but then stayed around making all
sorts of posts on everything except tango (well, one post on tango in Spanish).

I read the original post, and in that light it's actually pretty funny,
although Herve will stay in my kill file. Daniel, thanks for pointing out the
joke, but maybe you should take your own advice, or stick to posting about
tango.

Bob

Lets keep it step by step. ;-)

But, anyway, a visit to Amsterdam is definitly on my topic for next
year. Many of my tango friends have been there and really
enjoyed. Must be one of the best tango places all over Europe.

Rudiger
