I briefly mentioned it in another post, but I wanted
to make sure those of you who assisted me in finding
the music I was looking for received my thanks. A lot
of people sent me all sorts of links about Alfredo
Marcucci and Tango Al Sur.

I particularly want to thank Jean-Francois who
established that the track I was looking for was
"Elsa" from Tango Al Sur's CD "Liberata". It turns
out there is no bandoneon on that particular track.
The instrumentation consists of two guitars and bass
clarinet. I've never heard anyone else do that. It's
a lovely recording.

As Jai mentions Alfredo Marcucci once again I am pleased to take
the chance to tell you that I experienced a phantastic Milonga with
Alfredo Marcucci's Trio (plus occasional singer) at Den Haag's [The
Netherlands] Milonga "Studio 3" yesterday!

No, it wasn't the first time I saw that personality performing, I think
it was at least the fifth time. And once and again it was just
incredible. The ease of playing the bandoneon Alfredo Marcucci is
showing, incredible! With his Trio more than with his Sextetto he
improvises ... you even get the impression that there is
improvisation in every peace. [not because he does not know the
tunes but because he knows them all so very well!] His playing
was - once again - so fruitfull for the whole Milonga: It shows that
he enjoys playing for the dancers! Reknown to be in a good mood
at most occasions yesterday we were blessed with a Marcucci
even more motivated: At a certain moment the organiser of the
Milonga wanted to switch over to CD again and end the third and
final live set ... but Marcucci ignored and just continued playing! :-)

I know we're blessed to have that genious of a bandoneon player,
who used to perform with the old greats in past days, here in
Europe (Marcucci is currently based in Belgium). I can only advise
anyone travelling to Europe to try to attend a Milonga featuring
Alfredo Marcucci.

You will experience his gently smiling face when he ends an
allmost unplayable solo and piece of music with that 'so what?'
look in his eyes!
