Good God, did you guys see that game of Argentina vs. Serbia? Everybody in
the Irish pub I was in ended up almost doing somersaults themselves...
Is 6:0 a first in the history of soccer?

you'll allow me going off topic this once, will you?

Would that be social somersaults, or show somersaults?

And while we're at it, let's have a debate on just what, exactly, social somersaults are...

And does anyone want to write a prelude to a somersault aesthetic?

Social somersaults are done with feelings and passion. They are not done for
the audience but only for the inner bliss. These somersaults are done always
in a close embrace, leaning forward in a chest to chest position. They never
appear fancy or showy and consist basically of very small movements. They
never will feature a complete turn. These are truly the only true and
authentic somersaults and are the predominant somersaults at huge events
where only no name instructors teach the zen of somersaulting and all the
best somersaulters go to do their somersaults. These are very easy to tell
apart from the others as they are listed with * (asterisks) next to them.

The show somersaults are just that. Unnecessarily showy and contrived
somersaults performed by travelling professional somersaulters. These
somersaults are soulless, empty caricatures of the real somersault. They are
principally found in places where master somersaulters teach their
complicated routines to newcomers to somersaulting who then proceed to do
these showy somersaults in the most innapropriate manner and interfere with
the true somersaulting spirit in all possible ways. Look for double or
triple flips, contrived appearance of body control and other ostentatious
displays of physical prowess and technique.

with tongue firmly in cheek,

Manuel

Manuel,

What if I am very strong. If I like powerful movements, force, and
acceleration?
When I want to jump high, embrace tight, break sharp, and position low?
What if I like to make a turn in 2 wide steps and torque my body in 180
degrees?
If I like to make 4 steps in one count?
And I do not care more about the audience than you?
And me and my partners enjoy precisely that.

Do you live me the right for my pleasure?

Igor.

In my view, the only authentic somersaults are those done while wearing
Comme il Fauts.

Goodness gracious Igor. You are a most remarkable man! Please by all means
continue all your girations and dances to your heart's content. You may do
it for yourself, your partner or anybody else (or nobody else). I do not
presume to advise you how to dance. I never have and I hope I never do ;-)
I enjoy your colorful posts as I'm sure I'd enjoy your exciting and colorful
dance as you describe it. I only have good wishes for you and I want nothing
more that for you (and your partners) to live your right to pleasure. I
enjoy what pleasures I get from my life too!!

with warmest regards,

Manuel

Thank you, Manuel for your support!

When I read your essay about somersaults I felt negative judgment on the
athletic dance, or dance which looks glamour so to speak. I do not want to
use the word "show". For some reason it has negative tint in some
communities: you know, words have different meaning for everyone depending
on their own vision.

I am glad that I am mistaken and you understand that it is also true good
tango and also is done with feelings and passion.

Funny, some time ago, I considered myself close embrace dancer only. Now I
feel more and more attraction to open embrace styles: slow or fast.

I glad we can leave off unnecessary confrontations on that matter,
Thank you!

Igor.
