When Hugo LaTorre and others advertise workshops/festivals here instead
of Tango-A, will people please, please report it as spam to his ISP and
email provider? It's not fair to the people reading this list, or to
all the other promoters that do the right thing and use Tango-A as
they're supposed to.

Thanks,

Christopher

I would think community censure would be a far better punishment. We
are, after all, the one and only target audience ;)

Is he aware that he needs to post to Tango-A? I think it is
important to not use harsh methods if the person is not aware.

Suggestion.

Other lists I belong to have a message posted every month called
"Administrivia" with the 'rules of the road'. While there are rules for
tango-l, many people haven't seen them in a while and forget them.
Those who know them (or are irritated at the need for this) can just
look at the subject header, delete and not read. If they are updated
the message subject is "Administrivia - updated."

Also, if we remind someone that their post is wrong in a private email,
let's make sure we also include a link to the rules in the archive.

I know there's no moderator but a helpful volunteer could cut and paste
the rules and send a single recurring email on the first of every month.

A little bit of netiquette.

Agreed. Reporting as spam seems inappropriate IMO. Better to just tell them they've violated the list guidelines, and refer them to https://Tango-L.com for instructions and protocols.

I have wrote to Hugo about where promo messages should
be sent to (Tango-A instead of Tango-L), and the
frequency of those messages.

Hugo is aware of the info but choose to spam the list.
