Subject: Portland- The "silent majority"?

I find it very comforting to know that the 600+ people who attended Portland
are not feeling the need to defend the "V Embrace" or this or that style.
Having danced tango in the U.S. for over a decade, it is awe inspiring to
see and be part of so many dancers assembled in one place in the U.S. Who
would have believed that there could be three milongas in one day, in one
city and have them all filled to overflowing? I believe what happens then,
especially in these tumultuous international times, is that priorities
become clear. The most important thing seemed to be the harmony of the
people, and the satisfaction of dancing tango. All the petty bickering seems
to become pointless and to melt away. Here's to Portland, Here's to Clay,
and here's to everyone who dedicates themselves to learn this dance. Viva
el tango!

Cheers to that! So the impression of growing popularity of V embrace is
correct, I gather.

My observations of dancing here in the Boston/Cambridge area; in Montreal; and
in the UK is that the "V Embrace" is the norm - in those venues I have seen little
or no Milonguero Style.
