He was doing fine, writing those incisive, logical witty one liners till the Peripanflautic Argentine came by.
At the beginning I thought (the Argentine) was peripathetic, then pathetic but in actuality he was peripanflautic (he played the flute of the God Pan in his free time at the perimeter of the milonga) .
Everything was fine, I was saying, till the peripatetic Argentine taught (OH No!) how to use the hands to lead. UK was dismayed and his girl was as well, both sat at a corner in disbelief.
UK had to do something about it, he bought a shirt for her with buttons on her back.
Nice little ones all over her back.
Now everyone is having fun at the milongas, all the boys want to press the buttons , they are happy, the girl is happy (actually she added a few buttons more) but UK is not. he is very upset.
He tried to change the shirt for one with a bird with feathers (he does not believe in feathers either, I am told) but she only likes the one with the buttons, she looks forward to those fingers pressing the buttons.. She looks forward to the milongas as well.
She used to be bored, the routine of steps was sooo predictable and boring, but not anymore.
Sad, sad, situation for UK for as you know he is absolutely opposed to the pressing of any buttons. He rather climbs the stairs than to press a button in the elevator.
My advise, learn how to press the buttons, at least a few of them. There are treatments for all sort of phbias in modern medicine.
Greetings, Viejo Milonguero

I have a feeling, another madman has joined the list, though I don't think,
it is Sergio's alter ego.
A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing:

Dear Astrid,
I'm afraid not. That Sergio and Viejo are one and the same (or at least using the same computer) is told in these headers:

X-Originating-IP: [68.70.149.87]
Chris did point this out to the list but his message may have been a bit terse for the un-initiated.
Anyway, "Sergio/Viejo" may call him/herself anything he/she wants and use any number of accounts
but the bottom line is that both messages were sent from the same machine with IP
address of 68.70.149.87. A simple lookup reveals that this address has been
assigned by Adelphia Communications (an ISP) to a machine in the city of Buffalo
in the New York region. That does not mean that "Sergio/Viejo" lives there, just that his/her message was
relayed from there.
Best regards,

I'd like to nominate, Lead-uel from Atlanta, as the voice of reason,
sanity, reality check, non-knee-jerkedness, for this crazy list...

Before this goes any further:
The last time I was in Buffalo was about 10 years ago.
We had problems with somebody using my name or the name of other members of
this list to post nasty messages, several times in the past . Some of
those messages even imitated my writing style or had lettle changes in my
name or that of other members of the list.
We all knew who the poster was.
I know that it is very easy to identify where a message comes from but if
you have hacker tools you can easily forge IP addresses and header records.
If I wanted to do this type of fancy art work :
1 - I would go to the local library or to a cyber cafe and use a different
computer.
2 - I would change my writing style since mine it is well known by the
members of this list.
Finally and more important I received a message this morning confirming our
suspicions of who the culprit was.
IMO the best treatment of this kind of behavior is to ignore it till it goes
away. The more you pay attention to it the worse it gets.
I do not have time to waste in this kind of nonsense.
Have a good day, Sergio

What are the odds of that?
I'll leave it to the list to decide whether these are two, three different people or one and the same.
Personally, it does not matter to me. You can call yourself God for all I care (oh, wait, that's
already taken ;-) I chose to investigate it only as a mental exercise to see if the spoofer(s) was
clever enough.
By the way, there are extremely good reasons to disguise one's real identity when joining internet
groups. Using multiple identities in one group, however, demonstrates a disturbing degree of duplicity
that forces me to question everything that the spoofer may say... right or wrong.
With best wishes to all and with malice towards none,
