Subject: Spammers/viruses?
Sorry for this off-topic posting, but this is getting out of hand:
Folks, apparently tangobellingham's email server has been hacked (or is
being spoofed), because I'm getting a *ton* of bounced messages to my
admin account with spoofed addresses and viral attachments that
supposedly originated from tangobellingham. I don't think it's me - I'm
running Linux with all patches current, and tangobellingham is hosted
by Earthlink on a Linux server. I'm also getting emails with viral
attachments from various other domains that have shown up on Tango-L before.
If any of you are sysadmins and have a suggestion on how I can stop
this, I'd appreciated the advice - I'm already getting hostile emails
from people accusing me of being the spammer.

Hi Michael,
This has happened to me before. There is apparently nothing that can be done
from your part. I get lots of virus attachments from my own email address...
It seems that some people who have subscribed to the tango-l and other
forums got infected with a virus which used all the email addresses in their
address book to spoof emails to all the people in it. I too received hostile
and hysterical emails from people who received the spoofed email, there is
really nothing that can be done. I've answered them with the suggestion that
they never open any email from my email address as I never send them email
and will never do so in the future ;) Some people just do not understand how
the spoofed email works and how the viruses work. Just make sure your
computer is clean and ignore the baseless accusations :)
