Hi Tine and Listeros:
I don't like the taste of Gaterade because of the saltiness but
PowerAde is great since it has half the sodium content. My personal
favorite flavor is Fruit Punch which is red colored. That plus a
banana works well and I don't suffer the blahs the next day.

Dear friends,
I don't know about you, but when I have gone out dancing into the small
hours,
often the next morning I feel like I've been drinking the whole night.
A
headache and overall blah. And without touching a drop of alcohol.
So I was advised that it's because I don't drink enough fluids. So I
tried to
drink more fluids, but often I don't make it halfway to the bar before
I'm
dancing again, and also those tiny expensive drinks you get at milongas
held in
restaurants etc, you'd have to rush back for more at every cortina.
It's just
not practical!
So now my solution, which I wanted to share with you all, is a Sports
Drink, and
lots of it. I got over my dislike of salty taste and my distrust of
garish
colors and sci-fi labels, and I keep a large bottle in my bag, and if I
dance
somewhere that I can't very well bring my own drink, I just drink a lot
of it at
home before I go to sleep. At least half a liter.
It works great!
Happy dancing!
Tine

I forgot to add that I consume the drink (about 12 oz) and the banana
or a half dozen Nabisco Low Sodium Triscuits when I get home. During
the milonga itself I have an energy bar - Nature Valley's Fruit and Nut
Trail Mix is great.
