Is passion necessary to Tango? I say yes despite what nay-sayers have said on Tango-L.
Along with the difficulty and the personal sacrifice of time, work, effort, emotion, money and practice it takes to learn Tango, it can be very frustrating indeed. Tango is a Calling. Without the Calling, one will not make the sacrifice. One must have the passion, or Tango is impossible and can only become something else falsely called Tango. Tango chooses its own. As I once heard said: people don't choose Tango, Tango chooses them. We, as Tango dancers, are among the fortunate and chosen few. I wonder, is Tango a religion? I wonder why Tango can be so captivating? I wonder what people did before the event of Tango over a century ago?

These stories remind me of an incident shortly after my sister-in-law
discovered dance as a social activity(nevermind tango). She called her
sister one day and asked, plaintively, "Do I have to go to bed with ALL of
them?" I really liked tangochino's take on the matter

Will there be any time left for dancing?
Search from anywhere on the Web and block those annoying pop-ups.

"Do I have to go to bed with ALL of them?"
The correct answer is "Of course not, dear, only with good dancers". Guys,
keep practicing.
