Todo el an`o es carnaval. Carnival last all year long.

It is a reference to people that pretend to be something that they actually
are not.

Those characters are frequently seen at the milongas in Buenos Aires. They
are very well dressed, wearing an expensive suit, expensive shoes. They
look and behave as if they were CEOs. of big corporations, according to the
lyrics they could be thought as having a large fortune, having been born in
a golden cradle, they talk about expensive things, how men and women would
do anything for their love, speak with affectation, etc, but they have
nothing, owe money and do some sort of a menial job.

It is as if for them the whole year is Carnival as they wear a costume and
mask to portray who they wish to be and not who they really are.

Bruno translated:

That a fortune you had!
that your cradle was of gold!
that this is costly:
I do not know!
Men and women for your love
reach the moon, and other things
as well.

And if you talk about your family then
in past imperfect you say you were
treated like a king. I would like you to tell
me, and changing the subject, it is time
to settle the bill,
how many pesos you owe me?

Julio fernandez says: (in reference to the singer of Osvaldo Fresedo,
Roberto Ray): "...Too bad that he comes in almost when the tango is about

there any better versions of this tango or did it die an untimely death? "

Todo el an`o es carnaval (IMO) is a beautiful tango. Its music is easy to
dance to, in any style but mostly for Milonguero.

In tangos written for dancing as this one, the voice of the singer behaves
as an instrument more of the orchestra so that it does not disturb the
dancer. These tangos have a musical introduction, then the singer appears,
and this is followed by the rest of the musical segment of the composition.

This sequence is very standard and in contraposition to those non-danceable
tangos written for the shining of the singer, where he (the singer) sings
the whole composition from the beginning to the end with the music changing
to accommodate the lyrics for the benefit of the singer.
